Of Current Concern:
Leptospirosis & You
Going to the lake with your dog- or maybe a trip to the backyard after raccoons have visited? If so, your dog may be at risk for Leptospirosis.
Caused by bacteria, this disease is relatively new to our MN area. Dogs most commonly become infected when they come into contact with fresh urine from infected raccoons, squirrels, skunks, possums, rats, or sometimes other dogs.
Although it doesn't happen often, humans can also get the disease. The good news is, a vaccination is available and, in most cases highly recommended.
