Normal Range: 101-102.5 F
When to call the Vet: Anything below 100F or above 103F
| Heart Rate/Pulse How to check: Either place your hand over your pet's chest and feel the heart beat, or find the large vein on the inside on the back leg (femoral vein).
Normal for Dogs: 70-160 beats per minute
Normal for Cats: 160-240 beats per minute
| Respiratory Rate How to measure: You can either watch your pets chest, or hold a wet finger or mirror in front of the nostrils. For a quick estimate count for 15 seconds and multiply that by 4.
Normal for Dogs: 10-30 breaths per minute
Normal for Cats: 20-30 breaths per minute
