Dr.
Richard Reierson, the owner of the clinic, truly enjoys general
practice, as well as long-time interests in surgery, dentistry, reproduction, and
dermatology. Sporting dogs and their needs have been a particular
favorite of his. When his son brought home a very unusual guest for
Thanksgiving vacation, a snake, he decided to pursue reptile medicine.
Dr. Reierson's father, a dentist, provided the inspiration for
his son's ongoing education in advanced veterinary dentistry. A
graduate of the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1971, Dr.
Reierson also interned for one year at Colorado State University in
small animal surgery and medicine. In 1976, he established Elm Creek
Animal Hospital. He has served on the national council of the American
Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), state committees of the Minnesota
Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), as well as local boards of the
Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service (AEVS), and the Animal Humane
Society (AHS). He is also a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS) as well as the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). He is owned by a chocolate Labrador named Dixie.

Since that time, he has practiced small animal medicine and surgery, with special interests in sports medicine, surgery, dentistry, reproduction, and behavior modification. In addition to canines and felines, he enjoys the challenges that small mammals such as ferrets, guinea pigs, and rodents present. Dr. Duke and his wife Lauri have three Border Collies and an Airedale Terrier that they enjoy training, and competing with, in agility and obedience. He also has been an agility instructor for over 15 years.

Although
she has enjoyed animals her entire life, Dr. Rhonda Ganske foresaw her
future veterinary career while working as a costumed chipmunk for a
major theme park. Since that pivotal moment, she has worked in an
educational position at the Rio Grande Zoo in New Mexico as well as at
various small animal clinics. She graduated from the University of
Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2002, and joined the staff of Elm Creek Animal Hospital soon after. When pressed
to identify a favorite aspect of veterinary medicine, Dr. Ganske has
some trouble because she loves it all! Although at one time her home included 2 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats, and fish, she currently has just one sweet but shy yellow Labrador named Delilah.

Dr. Kaner is a 1990 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She joined Elm Creek Animal Hospital in the spring of 2006. She enjoys seeing a wide variety of pets from cats and dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits, to birds and even the occasional chicken! Dr. Kaner is passionate about behavior issues in dogs and cats, and enjoys behavior counseling. When she is not working at Elm Creek, she owns her own Mobile Veterinary Ultrasound Service and travels throughout the metro area going to other veterinary clinics to do ultrasounds, of course she is always happy to provide us with her ultrasound services. Her menagerie has included rabbits, guinea pigs, parakeets, and cockatiels, as well as dogs and cats. Since Dr. Kaner went to veterinary school in Wisconsin, she is proud to be a Packer and Badger fan (her children cheer for the Vikings, however!) She currently shares her house with her husband Greg, her two sons, 13 year old Jacob and 11 year old Ryan, a 1 year old Husky mix named Bridgette, and three cats, Sammi, Shadow, and Punkin.
