The FDA recently released data that potentially links certain grain-free, boutique and exotic diets to a heart condition called, canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Until further investigation, information or reports are released, Elm Creek Animal Hospital feels this data supports a significant enough warning that we are recommending pet owners seek dog food that is not on the FDA’s warning list. If your pet is showing signs of early heart disease- weakness, shortness of breath, coughing, exercise intolerance or severe lethargy, please contact us.
Our goal, as always, is to promote healthy pets and happy families. This includes being an advocate for your pet in every area of medicine, including nutrition. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us”
